Date: 1 - 2 May 2010
Location: Rimba Rekreasi Sg Kechik, Kedah.
Participants: Originals participants (70) Remaining participants (40) ... ignore the 0 coz' it means nothing.
This is the first event that I attend after coming back from abroad... Overall, the event is quite small as was held as part of the opening ceremony for Rimba Rekreasi Sg Kechik, which belonged to one of our senior off-roaders (Hj. Hashim). I was supposed to be one of the contestants, however, due to the time constraint, I wouldn't be able to attend the whole event.
Organizer/Professional 4x4 Offroader (World Champion)
The event was organized by Jitra 4x4 team, headed by our professional 4x4 Offroaders who has won several titles in Rain Forest Challenge (RFC) throughout the last 5 years. The participants are coming from many parts of the State (Kulim, Baling, A/Setar, Jitra), and the objectives are to gather all 4x4 members in the state to celebrate the opening ceremony of the Rimba Rekreasi Sg. Kechik. However, due to some problems especially time and man powers, the event is not disclose until the night of the event and that's the reason why we had only 70 participants. (Don't laugh!)

Time break.. lunch & rest..
1st SS of the day... Going down the slope, make two turn around several trees, go through a narrow path full of rocks, drive along the mud hole, climb-up the slope, turn-right on the road, going down to the steep slope (nearly 90 degrees angle), going back to the starting line using the same path. I'd rate this as Medium/Hard as it required winch, good gripping tyres to be used in the mud, plus the guts to go down on the steep slope.
Briefing ...
Gaya Champion...
Safety first...
Too much safety make it difficult to exit when emergency...
Game must go on... alamak, leaking pulak!
Sprinkle of mud...
Nice action... Terangkat!
Before you see other pictures below...I'd like to give you some backgrounds why my ass become thick (*Kembang Pungkok laaa*) regarding those pictures...
In this Special Stage(SS).. I *think* 2nd SS of the day, the task is to drive a 4x4 upward on the hill from the river below... (see 1st picture on the top).. When you reach the top of the hill, you'll have to turn around the tree and come down-hill and finish it in the river. I would rate it easy/medium as it may need a winch to finish the task or driving experience without using the winch.
The first three cars had difficulties and had to use winch to go to the top of the hill. The final car (man made 4x4 by Mizi Jitra) which using the airlocker and without using any winch made up to the top of hill.. Bravo! Excellent... very strong car indeed...
However, something happen on the top of the hill... The NSR tyre was stuck at the small tree (not too small though, coz' to cut it almost take it 10 minutes).. Hence, the rescue team was called ...
Suddenly, I saw a yellow, undistinguished LCII coming up from the downhill... I spot it quickly as there is no other yellow vehicles in the area... Guess what! I cannot believe my eyes, that my own 4x4 climb-up the hill like a "fierce tiger" without any roaring... In a few moments, it was in front of my eyes, without using any winch or charging... UNBELIEVABLE... but that's my LCII.. I made another promise, that I won't sell that car, as I promised not to sell my Rocky before... however, promises are made to be broken.
Back to the story... after we cut the small tree, we use my PTO winch to pull the car to release it from the remaining root of the tree. Since the damage are quite bad (water hose & brake pipe are broken), then the car could not go to the downhill by itself.. Then, my LCII, using the winch, slowly released the car down safely.. This was the last SS that this man-made 4x4 took part even though the damages can be fixed quickly...
Ready to face another battle!
Alamak sangkut pokok pulak.. Kena panggil rescue team ni!
Take out the winch!
Rescue Time ...
3rd SS of the day.. This special stage is to ask the contestants to drive along the river full of sand, stones & rocks. At the end of the river, the contestants are required to turn around the tree and come back to the finish line. There were only 3 contestants left that taking part in this SS. I rate this SS are easy task.. No winch required..
Cuci kereta sikit...
This is cool...
Rock & Roll time
The final SS.. The task is to drive along the narrow river, climb-up slope, going-down on top of the rock and drive back to the finish line. I rated this SS as medium, and winch is required...
Jaga-jaga aaa... Ini keleta boleh terbang ooo...
It's only 45 degree.. Give me 90 degree and I'll turn it into 180 degree..
Come on uncle... "larat lagi ke tarik winch tu?" Age is not a barrier!
Be careful aaa with the flying stone...
Wa chiow dulu a'a... "ini trek mana boleh main, wa punya keta tarak boleh pi ooo"
Finally, the event is considered as successful even though the total of participant drop to near critical.. At least I enjoyed the event and had a free meal for the day.. Thank you ALLAH for giving me another opportunity..
